PALLET TABLE
I recently finished another table using reclaimed pallet wood. I’ve broken apart, de-nailed, scraped, planed, and squared more pallets than I can keep track of in the past few months. I’ve been designing a few pieces to utilize the reclaimed woods, emphasizing their natural beauty by framing with walnut. Now that I’ve got a sizable stockpile of various domestic and exotic pallet woods ready to use, new projects should be moving at a much quicker pace.
This particular table was designed with consideration for the graphic pattern resulting from the use of contrasting types of pallet woods. The pallet woods include oak, ash, maple, poplar, cherry, pine, and another with a medium/light mahogany type grain. The pieces of the pattern were reflected across the middle diagonal line of the top, creating matching sides out of the same board. There is a hidden box under one of the cherry pieces, accessible only by pushing down in the right spot in the right corner. The table was finished with Tried & True’s Natural Linseed Oil and Varnish, an all natural, VOC free finish that gives the wood a rich depth and light sheen. For more images, check out my website.
