GUITAR BUILDING!

Joe hard at work
The last session of Guitar Building was a hit! I was very pleased to see the variety of guitars that were built in this class. As described in the class description, we start with a Telecaster kit and make our own modifications to create unique, one of a kind guitars.
Students are encouraged to design their own bodies and headstocks as the design process informs what kind of challenges reappear as you continue building guitars and how you may be able to stream line or simplify a design in the future.
Jacky designed a wild USA guitar with single coil sized humbuckers.

The (United) Fruits of Labor
In a normal circumstance, this kind of a guitar would not be produced in a commercial setting because of the time and labor that goes into it. However, in a learning environment, students can take design risks to create just about anything they can imagine! Jacky’s guitar served as a great exercise for taking a graphic image and translating it into 3D. While it did take her quite a while to cut and sand this guitar, the result speaks for itself.
